Marine Solar Installation: A Deck-Level Checklist
Six checks that decide whether a deck PV system survives its third season, from gland sealing to shading from rigging.

Sealing matters more than panel choice
Most marine PV failures we are asked about trace back to cable entry points rather than module performance. Each gland should be bedded with marine sealant and supported so the cable does not flex at the deck line.
Plan for shade, not just sun
Boom, mast and rigging shade moves through the day. Splitting the array into two strings with separate MPPT channels usually recovers more energy than adding another panel.
